FIELDNOTES / REMOTION / BENCHMARK 01

Motion, compared.

Five source-specific treatments. Original assets on the right; inspected source footage on the left. Each comparison is one encoded video, so the two halves cannot drift.

APPROVED FOR PUBLICATION · SEPTEMBER 5, 2026 · BENCHMARK 01
01 / Opening

Word and letter cadence → direct proof cut

A first look at the Codex app · 0.000–3.712s · source f0–89 · 24000/1001 fps

Frame 0

Observed timing

Source text appears at frames 3, 6, 9, 12, 13 and 14. The completed title holds through 61; the full application replaces it at 62.

Substitutions / limits

Original wording and licensed Geist substitute. The arriving screen is an explicitly original specimen, not a Poe demo.

02 / Camera

Wide context → rapid push → selector action

A first look at the Codex app · 3.420–5.798s · source f82–139 · 24000/1001 fps

Frame 0

Observed timing

The selector is approached before the push. A low-speed camera tail continues through menu appearance at source frame 103.

Substitutions / limits

Source-shaped camera fit; 25 close temporal samples approximate observed blur. Screen content, desktop artwork and pointer drawing are original.

03 / Collapse

Layered field travel → fast contraction → title

Build and share apps in Codex · 35.000–39.983s · source f2100–2399 · 60/1 fps

Frame 0

Observed timing

Four foreground handoffs precede the compact group clearing at source frame 2348. Traveling brackets, a fading footer and irregular letter onsets follow.

Substitutions / limits

Thirty original placements replace the source outputs. Relative card paths and density are fits rather than recovered source layers. The rejected added ghosting is removed.

04 / Icon

Container → inner material → turning glyph

Introducing ChatGPT Atlas · 89.833–93.466s · source f2695–2804 · 30/1 fps

Frame 0

Observed timing

The tile appears at source frame 2699, colored core at 2710 and white glyph at 2719. Growth and turning continue into the reading pose.

Substitutions / limits

Original warm material, four-lobe geometry and F glyph replace the source branding. Layered vector shading is not a recovered 3D material.

05 / LowerThird

Two simultaneous fields; cut removes both

Introducing Agent Plugins · 3.504–7.774s · source f105–233 · 30000/1001 fps

Frame 0

Observed timing

Name and role switch on together at source frame 117 and disappear with the shot change at 219. No backing panel, slide or fade.

Substitutions / limits

Fictional identity over original vector still-life footage. No presenter was generated. Compare overlay metrics separately from background imagery.

06 / Fresh-context reuse

FEN — Forms from waterline

A separate 28-second original edit using all five families, new text, twelve new portfolio artworks, a new glyph and original backgrounds.

What this verifies

A fresh-context agent reused the frozen project without editing its shipped implementations. The report records clean install, typecheck, contract checks, rendering, provenance and playback.

Different editorial sequence

Native treatment seconds are mapped onto a 30 fps edit. Added holds, transitions and the quiet ending belong to this new demonstration, not the source films. This is not a source-synchronized comparison or the all-hands presentation.
